Plan Your Visit →Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church has been part of the Kitchener-Waterloo community since 1854, rooted in Scottish Presbyterian traditions. The church is fascinated by Jesus and his teachings, emphasizing worship, community engagement, lifelong learning, and serving as an outpost of God's kin-dom.
Our Faith
St. Andrew's holds that God is ultimately a mystery, but that the clearest picture of who God is comes through Jesus Christ. The congregation is drawn to Jesus' teachings and actions, trusting that looking toward him shows what God's love and character truly look like.
The church believes the heart of faith is Jesus' teaching that the greatest commandments are to love God and to love our neighbour as ourselves. Jesus broke down social barriers and 'always came down on the side of love,' restoring people to right relationship with one another and with God.
Echoing Jesus' announcement in Mark 1:15 that the kingdom (which the congregation names the 'kin-dom') of God is at hand, St. Andrew's believes it is called to recognize that reign of God breaking in and to be an active 'outpost' of it in the Kitchener-Waterloo community.
Worship is central to the life of the church because it is where the congregation encounters God. Everything else the church does — its learning, care, and outreach — flows out of that encounter and is lived out as people engage Jesus in daily life.
St. Andrew's believes faith is more than something held in the mind; it is lived out. 'Engaging Jesus' means being a church connected to the needs of the community, building sustainable and transformative relationships with partners and people in need, and pursuing justice and care.

The congregation believes that growing in faith is a lifelong, missional journey 'from birth to grave,' and that faith shapes who a person is as a follower of Jesus. Filled by God's love, members care for one another through pastoral care so they are equipped to share that love with the world.
