Contact UsGloria Dei (Old Swedes') Episcopal Church is a welcoming community that preaches inclusive Christianity and emphasizes love and kindness. They follow the teachings of Jesus and strive to be a place where everyone feels welcome.
Our Faith
The congregation seeks to follow the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, summed up in the call to love God with all one's heart and to love one's neighbor as oneself. This twofold love is understood as the foundation of Christian discipleship and is pursued only 'with God's help.'
The Bible is honored as central to the church's life, and worship includes spiritual and biblical teaching from the Rector. Scripture shapes the congregation's understanding of God and guides how the community lives out its faith.
As an Episcopal parish, the church gathers for liturgical worship in the Anglican tradition, drawing on the Book of Common Prayer. Uplifting music, common prayer, and the proclamation of the Word are treated as integral parts of one whole worship experience.
In keeping with Episcopal practice, the church celebrates the sacraments, especially Holy Baptism as entry into the Body of Christ and Holy Eucharist as the regular sharing in Christ's body and blood. These sacred rites are at the heart of the parish's gathered life.
