St. Stephen's Cathedral Church of God in Christ was organized in 1962 to bring a message of hope, forgiveness, reconciliation, and healing to a troubled community experiencing racial tension and social upheaval. An anchor institution in San Diego's inner city, it has grown from six families to a thriving congregation that established over 50 churches worldwide and operates extensive community outreach ministries.
