Our Faith
St. George's centres its Sunday worship on the celebration of the Eucharist (Holy Communion), the sacramental sharing of bread and wine instituted by Jesus. As an Anglican parish, it understands this gathering at the Lord's Table as the heart of common prayer and the means by which the congregation is united in Christ.
The church believes that human beings are loved by God just as they are, out of the abundance of God's grace and love. This unearned grace is understood as the foundation of the Christian life, freely given rather than achieved.
St. George's holds that the message of Jesus is genuinely 'good news' — a gospel that frees people from anxiety about their worth and assures them of God's love. The life and ministry of Jesus are seen as the pattern for how the church is to live.
Energized by God's love, the congregation believes Christians are called to love and serve their neighbours. This includes respecting all people, whether similar or different, and seeking the good of the wider community.
The parish is committed to welcoming everyone regardless of social status, race, sexual orientation, or other apparent differences. It understands inclusivity and radical hospitality as values Jesus demonstrated throughout his ministry, and as central to faithful Christian discipleship.
