Contact UsSt. Francis' Episcopal Church is a loving community committed to service, embracing a diverse membership in San Francisco's Balboa Terrace and Ingleside Terrace neighborhoods.
Our Faith
We are guided by the "three-legged stool" of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. The Bible is primary; the Church's tradition and human reason illuminate its meaning for each generation.
We affirm the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed as faithful summaries of the Christian faith. They unite us with Christians across centuries and denominations.
We celebrate Baptism and the Eucharist as the two sacraments ordained by Christ. The Lord's Supper is the central act of Anglican worship — we are fed by Christ's body and blood.
Our worship is shaped by the Book of Common Prayer — a treasury of Scripture, prayer, and liturgy that forms us in the faith and unites Anglicans worldwide.
We stand as a "middle way" — holding together Catholic order, evangelical faith, and Reformed theology. We welcome all to the table of grace in a spirit of generous orthodoxy.

Visiting Our Parish
Street parking is generally available near the church. As a parish in San Francisco, plan a few extra minutes to find a spot, and consider public transit where convenient.
Children are warmly welcomed. The church offers staffed Nursery Care for the youngest visitors and Godly Play for early formation, along with a teen youth group and acolyte opportunities for older children.
St. Francis' has a dedicated welcome for newcomers — whether you're seeking the right fit, visiting from out of town, or simply curious. Parishioners come from many backgrounds: lifelong 'cradle to grave' Episcopalians, those raised Catholic who find the liturgy familiar, and others transitioning from low-church traditions. A greeter or usher can help you follow along with the service.
The parish strives to be welcoming to all. If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact the church office ahead of your visit so they can assist you.
Visitors are invited to a coffee hour following the service — a relaxed time to meet parishioners, ask questions, and get to know this loving community.
