St. Michael’s Episcopal Church is a community of prayer, compassion, and justice, serving Trenton for over 300 years. Our mission is to unite the human family in love through Jesus Christ.
Our Faith
We worship according to the traditions of the Episcopal Church, ordering our common life and prayer around the Book of Common Prayer. Our liturgy shapes how we encounter God together, week by week.
We hold the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, containing all things necessary to salvation. Scripture is read, proclaimed, and sung in our worship as the foundation of our faith.
As the historic site where the Episcopal Church in America ratified its Articles of Religion in 1801, we stand in the Anglican theological tradition. We practice the doctrines of the Episcopal Church and faithfully support the Diocese of New Jersey.
We look with compassion on the whole human family and seek to unite all people in bonds of love through Jesus Christ. Through him, God draws us into reconciliation and Godly union.
We are a community of prayer, compassion, and justice, called to be an instrument of God in taking away hatred, prejudice, and every hindrance to Godly concord. Our ministry extends to the streets of Trenton through hospitality, recovery resources, and care for our neighbors.

We believe worship is offered to God in beauty, prayer, and song, drawing from The Hymnal 1982 and Lift Every Voice and Sing II. Good faith and good music together lift the congregation in praise.
As the Mother Church of Trenton, we believe the Church is called to be a symbol and source of hope for the community and for future generations. We work to renew the physical and spiritual environment for the continual worship of God.
