Latvian Lutheran Exile Church is a Lutheran church in Brookline, Massachusetts, proclaiming the Gospel of grace through Word and Sacrament. The congregation gathers for worship, education, and service in the Lutheran tradition.
Our Faith
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the only authoritative source and norm for Christian doctrine and life. All church tradition must be tested by Scripture.
We believe salvation is entirely by God's grace, not by human merit or effort. God's undeserved love in Jesus Christ is the source and ground of our rescue.
We believe a person is declared righteous before God (justified) through faith alone — trusting in Christ's righteousness imputed to us — not by works of the law.
We believe Baptism and the Lord's Supper are means of grace through which God truly gives and strengthens faith. In Holy Communion, Christ's body and blood are truly present with the bread and wine.
We follow Luther's theology of the cross — God is known not in human glory or power, but in suffering and the cross of Christ. We are called to carry our cross and follow Jesus.
