The Church of The Good Shepherd Episcopal is an Episcopal congregation serving Decatur, Alabama. Rooted in Scripture, tradition, and reason, this church offers beautiful liturgical worship and an inclusive community of faith.
Our Faith
We worship one God in three persons — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We find reverence and joy in the ancient creeds of the Christian faith while remaining open to new ways of celebrating God's presence among us.
We believe in and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We joyfully proclaim the Good News of his Gospel and the hope of the resurrection.
We hold the Bible as the Word of God, containing all things necessary for salvation. Scripture is read, proclaimed, and prayed in every gathering as the foundation of our faith and life together.
As an Episcopal parish, we honor our Anglican roots through liturgical worship rooted in the Book of Common Prayer. The sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist are central to our common life, drawing the community together around Christ's table.
We believe that God loves every human being — no exceptions. The Episcopal Church embraces a legacy of inclusion, welcoming people of all genders and sexual orientations into full participation, fellowship, and leadership in the church.
