St. John’s Lutheran Church is a Reconciling in Christ congregation dedicated to sharing Christ’s love, growing in faith, and serving others.
Our Faith
We believe we are saved by God's grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ, not by our own works. As a Lutheran congregation, we are 'steeped in abundant grace' — God's unearned love that we receive as a gift and then share with the world.
Our life together centers on gathering around the Word of God and the Sacraments. We believe Christ is truly present as the Scriptures are proclaimed and as the community shares in worship, which sends us out to serve.
We hold the two sacraments instituted by Christ — Baptism and Holy Communion. In Baptism God claims us as beloved children, and at the Lord's Table we receive Christ's body and blood for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of faith.
We are a community living out faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe the good news of his death and resurrection is the heart of the gospel and the foundation of our worship, witness, and daily discipleship.
As a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation, we believe all people are created and loved by God and are welcomed fully into the life of the church. We affirm the dignity of every person, including those of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

Visiting Our Parish
Parking is available on-site at the church at 884 Newfield Avenue, with additional street parking nearby. Greeters can help you find your way in.
Children are warmly welcomed in worship—each service includes a Children's Message and an offering time just for kids. Sunday School, Confirmation, and First Communion classes are also offered, and little ones are always welcome in the sanctuary.
Whether you're exploring faith for the first time or looking for a new church home, you're our honored guest. Arrive a few minutes early, introduce yourself to a greeter, and feel free to simply observe and follow along—there's no wrong way to join us.
Our sanctuary is air-conditioned for comfort and we strive to make worship welcoming to all. If you have specific accessibility needs, please call the church office at 203-322-0066 and we'll be glad to assist.
Following worship, we gather for fellowship and refreshments. It's a relaxed way to meet members, ask questions, and get to know the St. John's family over coffee.

We gather so that we can scatter into the world God loves, called to make a difference in the lives of others through witness and service. This includes caring for creation, honoring the land, and engaging in social ministry as an expression of our faith.
