Smithers Christian Reformed Church is a faith community called to gather in worship, grow in faith, and go out to witness and share Christ's love. They emphasize Christ as their centre and seek to help people meet Jesus and experience hope through His love.
Our Faith
We believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God and the foundation for all preaching, teaching, and Christian living. Scripture reveals how God is involved in every aspect of our lives.
We affirm the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed as the most important tenets of our shared Christian faith. These creeds express the historic confession of the church across the ages.
Our doctrinal standards are the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort. These confessions faithfully summarize the teaching of Scripture and shape our Reformed identity.
As part of our Reformed heritage, we emphasize God's sovereignty over all of life, His covenant faithfulness to His people, and the coming of His kingdom. Our World Belongs to God — every square inch belongs to Christ.
We believe that because of God's love for us through Jesus Christ, lives can be changed and people can experience the hope He provides. Our desire is to help people meet Jesus and enter a living relationship with Him through the work of the Holy Spirit.
We believe water baptism and the Lord's Supper are to be observed until Christ's return. They are not a means of salvation; baptism is a symbol of identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, and a sign of God's covenant claim on believers and their children.
We believe God is the center of all things — we gather to worship Him, grow through His Word and Spirit, and go out to serve one another and our community. Stewardship of our time, talents, and resources honors God and blesses the world.
