Contact UsSaint Marks Protestant Episcopal Church is an Episcopal church in Hampton, Virginia, in the Anglican tradition of liturgical worship, sacramental life, and the via media. The congregation welcomes all seekers and believers.
Our Faith
We are guided by the "three-legged stool" of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. The Bible is primary; the Church's tradition and human reason illuminate its meaning for each generation.
We affirm the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed as faithful summaries of the Christian faith. They unite us with Christians across centuries and denominations.
We celebrate Baptism and the Eucharist as the two sacraments ordained by Christ. The Lord's Supper is the central act of Anglican worship — we are fed by Christ's body and blood.
Our worship is shaped by the Book of Common Prayer — a treasury of Scripture, prayer, and liturgy that forms us in the faith and unites Anglicans worldwide.
We stand as a "middle way" — holding together Catholic order, evangelical faith, and Reformed theology. We welcome all to the table of grace in a spirit of generous orthodoxy.
Visiting Our Parish
Free parking is available on-site or on nearby streets; arrive a few minutes early to find a spot and get settled.
Children are warmly welcomed in worship, and a nursery and/or Sunday school is typically available for younger ones.
Worship follows the Book of Common Prayer, and an usher can hand you a bulletin that guides you through the service step by step. There's no need to know the liturgy in advance — simply follow along, and stand or sit as you feel comfortable.
The church aims to be accessible to all, with wheelchair-accessible entrances and seating; contact the parish office ahead of your visit for any specific accommodations.
Most Sundays include a coffee hour or fellowship time after the service, where visitors are invited to stay, meet parishioners, and ask questions.
