Contact UsSt. John's Episcopal Church is a diverse community seeking to know and share the love of Jesus Christ through their worship and community service.
Our Faith
We are guided by the "three-legged stool" of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. The Bible is primary; the Church's tradition and human reason illuminate its meaning for each generation.
We affirm the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed as faithful summaries of the Christian faith. They unite us with Christians across centuries and denominations.
We celebrate Baptism and the Eucharist as the two sacraments ordained by Christ. The Lord's Supper is the central act of Anglican worship — we are fed by Christ's body and blood.
Our worship is shaped by the Book of Common Prayer — a treasury of Scripture, prayer, and liturgy that forms us in the faith and unites Anglicans worldwide.
We stand as a "middle way" — holding together Catholic order, evangelical faith, and Reformed theology. We welcome all to the table of grace in a spirit of generous orthodoxy.

Visiting Our Parish
Parking is available near the church at 225 French Street in Bangor, and greeters are happy to help you find your way in.
Children and youth are warmly welcomed in worship. St. John's offers Youth Education, and acolyte service is open to boys and girls ages 10 and up who wish to assist at the altar.
First-time visitors are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early so a greeter can welcome you, help you find a seat, and orient you to the service. The parish also offers a dedicated 'What to Expect' page on its website.
St. John's strives to make worship welcoming and accessible to all. If you have specific accessibility needs, the parish office (open weekday mornings, 207-947-0156) is glad to help you plan your visit.
Following Sunday worship, parishioners gather for coffee and fellowship — a relaxed chance for newcomers to meet members of the congregation and the clergy.
