The church has grown from a small 40x24 foot wooden structure to a modern steel-reinforced concrete building with distinctive stained-glass windows illustrating the 12 promises of the Sacred Heart.

Founded May 10, 1911 by Bishop Thomas Cantwell; originally a 40x24 foot redwood structure that was moved to present location in 1924Church features 16 large stained-glass windows illustrating the 12 promises of the Sacred Heart - reportedly the first time such windows were used in a church when installed in 1947Copper paintings of the Stations of the Cross installed in the churchOperated Sacred Heart Academy from 1948 with Dominican Sisters from Springfield, Illinois as original teachersHistoric tradition of large community events including monthly parish dinners serving 500+ people and annual beach barbecues that were major social and financial successes
