Founded in 1865 shortly after the Civil War by three men—one Black (Nat Morris) and two white men (William Shelborne and David Newell)—who began holding prayer meetings in an exhausted mineshaftOriginally called 'New Hope,' the church was renamed Rock Hill AME Zion and members walked 150-200 miles to New Bern to join the Annual ConferenceFeatures a unique Class Leader structure that matches a spiritual leader to each church member to ensure individual spiritual wellness and demonstrate commitment to praying, caring, and sharingLocated on prime real estate at the corner of Lawyers Rd W. and Rock Hill Church Rd in Indian Trail, NC, within the West Central North Carolina Conference
