A vibrant and welcoming Episcopal congregation located in downtown Jersey City, Grace Church Van Vorst is committed to following Jesus by extending mercy and spreading joy.
Our Faith
We believe in one God, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. God exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three persons in one divine Being.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made, and through him we are reconciled to God.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. The Spirit is worshiped and glorified together with the Father and the Son, and has spoken through the prophets.
Grace Church is an Episcopal congregation within the Diocese of Newark, part of the broader Anglican Communion. We worship according to the Book of Common Prayer, holding together Scripture, tradition, and reason as guides for faith and life.
As an Episcopal church, we celebrate the two great sacraments of the Gospel — Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist — as outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace. These are the means by which Christ gathers and sustains his Church.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church, called to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, to love and serve our neighbors, and to welcome all people. Grace Church seeks to be a community where every person is valued as a beloved child of God.

You are welcome at this table. Whether you come from two blocks away or the far corners of the world, straight or LGBTQ, single or family — Grace Van Vorst welcomes you. Everything you need for worship is projected at the 11:00 service, so no fumbling with prayer books on your first Sunday.
