Christ Episcopal Church has been serving Columbia County since 1855, welcoming individuals and making a difference in the world through various actions.
Our Faith
The Bible is the foundation of faith, understood through tradition and reason, and contains all things necessary for salvation. Scripture fills worship from beginning to end, and Christ Church prays to read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest the holy Scriptures.
As Episcopalians, the congregation believes in and follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. They strive to keep Jesus' commandments to love God and to love their neighbors as themselves.
The Apostles' Creed, used at baptism, and the Nicene Creed, used at communion, are the foundational statements of basic belief about God. Through them the congregation joins Christians throughout the ages in affirming faith in the one God who creates, redeems, and sanctifies.
Sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace. Baptism and the Eucharist (Holy Communion) are central, and the church also recognizes other sacramental rites that mark the journey of faith.
The Book of Common Prayer is both a treasure of devotional and teaching resources and the primary symbol of the church's unity. A people who are many and diverse come together in Christ through their common prayer and worship.

Worship follows the traditions of the ancient, undivided Christian church and is filled with Scripture in dialogue with reason, poetry, and music. The Baptismal Covenant calls believers to renounce evil, renew their commitment to Jesus Christ, and live out their faith.
Inclusion and respect are core values: all are welcome to come as they are, because God loves every person with no exceptions. People of all genders and sexual orientations serve as bishops, priests, and deacons, and laypeople and clergy share in leadership and governance.
