Our Faith
We are guided by the "three-legged stool" of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. The Bible is primary; the Church's tradition and human reason illuminate its meaning for each generation.
We affirm the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed as faithful summaries of the Christian faith. They unite us with Christians across centuries and denominations.
We celebrate Baptism and the Eucharist as the two sacraments ordained by Christ. The Lord's Supper is the central act of Anglican worship — we are fed by Christ's body and blood.
Our worship is shaped by the Book of Common Prayer — a treasury of Scripture, prayer, and liturgy that forms us in the faith and unites Anglicans worldwide.
We stand as a "middle way" — holding together Catholic order, evangelical faith, and Reformed theology. We welcome all to the table of grace in a spirit of generous orthodoxy.

Children are warmly welcomed in worship. As a cathedral whose ministry centres on hospitality, families can expect a welcoming environment for children of all ages.
First-time visitors are warmly welcomed at the Cathedral Church of St Michael and All Angels, the mother church of the Diocese of Kootenay. Arrive a little early, and a greeter will be glad to help you find a seat and answer any questions about the Anglican service.
The Cathedral strives to be a welcoming and accessible space for all worshippers. For specific accessibility needs, please contact the office at 1.250.762.3321 or office@stmichaelscathedral.ca ahead of your visit.
Coffee and refreshments are typically offered after the service, providing a relaxed opportunity to meet members of the congregation and Cathedral staff.
