Woodland Church is Christian by tradition, Baptist in heritage, and ecumenical in outlook. We seek to live out Jesus’ teachings and are justice-oriented, joyful, inclusive, compassionate, and generous.
Our Faith
We believe every person, led by God's Spirit within the family of faith, is free to read and interpret the Scriptures for themselves, relying on the historical understanding of the church and the best methods of biblical study. This soul competency before God is a treasured Baptist principle.
We believe each local congregation, under the authority of Jesus Christ, is free to shape its own life and mission, call its own leadership, and ordain those it perceives as gifted for ministry, male or female. Christ alone is the head of the church.
We believe the Body of Jesus Christ is expressed in various Christian traditions, and we are committed to cooperating with believers everywhere in giving full expression to the Gospel. Our unity is found in Christ across denominational lines.
We believe leadership within the church follows the model of our Servant Lord, Jesus Christ. We affirm the full partnership of all of God's people in the mission and ministry of the church.
We are committed to proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ and God's calling to all people to repentance and faith, reconciliation and hope. This Gospel call extends to social and economic justice as an expression of God's love.

We value theological education in congregations, colleges, and seminaries that is characterized by reverence for biblical authority alongside respect for open inquiry and responsible scholarship.
We believe in religious liberty and the separation of church and state, opposing any effort by either church or state to use the other for its own purposes. Faith must be freely chosen, never coerced.
