Plan Your Visit →St. Luke's Episcopal Church is a diverse and welcoming congregation in the heart of East Knoxville. Our mission is to invite everyone to Christ’s table and to offer fellowship, love, justice, healing and caring to all.
Our Faith
St. Luke's worships one God in three Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As an Episcopal parish, the church affirms the historic faith expressed in the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds.
The church believes Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the living Lord with whom the congregation walks daily. Following Jesus shapes the parish's call to fellowship, love, healing, and justice.
St. Luke's holds the Bible as the inspired Word of God, containing all things necessary for salvation. Scripture is read, proclaimed, and prayed at the center of Episcopal worship.
The church believes the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist are outward and visible signs of God's grace. Christ's table is open as an invitation to everyone to share in his presence.
Worship at St. Luke's follows the Book of Common Prayer in the Anglican tradition. Liturgy unites the parish with the worldwide Anglican Communion in shared prayer and praise.
Rooted in its historically Black heritage and witness in Knoxville's civil rights movement, St. Luke's believes the Gospel calls the church to welcome all people without exception. Faith is lived out through fellowship, justice, healing, and caring for the community.
