Contact UsSt. John’s Lutheran Church is a historic parish with roots dating back to the arrival of the Palatines in 1710, offering worship services on a seasonal schedule.
Our Faith
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the only authoritative source and norm for Christian doctrine and life. All church tradition must be tested by Scripture.
We believe salvation is entirely by God's grace, not by human merit or effort. God's undeserved love in Jesus Christ is the source and ground of our rescue.
We believe a person is declared righteous before God (justified) through faith alone — trusting in Christ's righteousness imputed to us — not by works of the law.
We believe Baptism and the Lord's Supper are means of grace through which God truly gives and strengthens faith. In Holy Communion, Christ's body and blood are truly present with the bread and wine.
We follow Luther's theology of the cross — God is known not in human glory or power, but in suffering and the cross of Christ. We are called to carry our cross and follow Jesus.
Visiting Our Parish
Free parking is available at the church. If you're not sure where to park, an usher or greeter will be glad to help when you arrive.
Children are always welcome in worship, and a little wiggling is no problem. Families are invited to worship together, and an usher can point you to the restrooms or a quiet space if you need one.
St. John's in Manorton is one of three congregations in the Lutheran Parish of Southern Columbia County, New York, together with Christ Church in Viewmont and St. Thomas' in Churchtown. A greeter will welcome you and give you a bulletin, so you can follow the service. In winter, services are sometimes cancelled because of bad weather, so check the parish's news page before you set out.
Our parish wants everyone to be able to worship with us. Please contact the parish before you visit if you need accessible entry, seating or other help, so we can be ready for you.
Many Lutheran congregations stay after worship for coffee and conversation. It's a relaxed way to meet people, and you're warmly invited to join.
