Our Faith
Mamrelund believes salvation is freely given by God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, received by grace alone through faith alone. Good works do not earn or contribute to salvation but flow as a grateful response to God's gift.
Faith in Christ as Savior and Lord is not something we manufacture ourselves but is enabled and strengthened by the Holy Spirit, who works through the Word of Christ encountered in Scripture, preaching, and Christian witness.
The Holy Spirit's work comes to believers visibly and concretely through the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, understood as the enacted Word of God rather than mere symbolic acts.
Mamrelund confesses the ancient, universal statements of Christian faith—the Nicene, Apostles', and Athanasian creeds—alongside the Lutheran confessional writings, including the Augsburg Confession of 1530 and Luther's Small Catechism.
In response to God's gift of eternal life, Christians are called to devote their lives to worship, prayer, holy living, and service to their neighbor—not to secure salvation, but because they have already received it.
The church sets apart pastors for the work of proclaiming the Word of God and administering the sacraments within the congregation, with bishops providing oversight across wider groupings of congregations.
As a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Mamrelund shares in a global Lutheran communion united in the common mission of proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and doing God's work in the world.
