First United Methodist Church in Gainesville, FL, is committed to inclusivity and connecting the church with the community and Christ through service and worship. They focus on social justice for all and welcome everyone into their congregation.
Our Faith
We believe the Holy Scriptures are the inspired and inerrant Word of God, containing all things necessary for salvation. Scripture is the primary authority for Christian life and teaching.
We believe God's grace goes before us, enabling all people to respond to His call. No one is beyond the reach of God's love, and all may be saved through repentance and faith.
We believe in justification by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and in entire sanctification — the work of the Holy Spirit that cleanses the heart and empowers holy living.
We practice the means of grace Wesley identified: Scripture reading, prayer, fasting, Holy Communion, and Christian conferencing — all as channels through which God works in us.
We believe there is no holiness but social holiness. Our faith calls us outward in service to the poor, the marginalized, and the broken — following the pattern of Jesus.

Your First Visit
Free parking is available on-site, and our greeters are happy to help you find your way to the Sanctuary when you arrive.
Children are always welcome in the Sanctuary during worship. If you prefer, childcare for infants through pre-K is available during Sunday School through the conclusion of worship.
We can't wait to meet you. Stop by, fill out a Connection Card so we can say hello, and know that our Communion table is open to everyone regardless of where you are in your faith journey or church affiliation.
Our Sunday service is live-streamed with closed captioning on our app, Facebook, and YouTube, and our building offers accessible seating and entry. Let a greeter know if there's any way we can make your visit easier.
Stick around before or after worship for coffee and fellowship — it's a great way to meet our community and ask any questions you have.
