Our Faith
We acknowledge Jesus Christ, Son of God and Savior, as the sole Head of the Church. We claim as kindred in Christ all who share in this confession.
We look to the Word of God in the Scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, to prosper the Spirit's creative and redemptive work in the world. We strive to know the will of God as taught in the Holy Scriptures.
We claim as our own the faith of the historic Church expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in the basic insights of the Protestant Reformers. We affirm the responsibility of the Church in each generation to make this faith its own in worship, honest thought, and purity of heart before God.
In accordance with the teaching of our Lord, we recognize two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper, also called Holy Communion.
Whoever you are, wherever you are on life's journey, you are welcome here. As a progressive, inclusive congregation, we value diversity and freedom of expression, offering caring ministries and extravagant welcome to all.
We place high emphasis on worldwide interfaith and ecumenical efforts and maintain full communion with other mainline Protestant denominations. We hope to be a church united and uniting, answering Jesus' prayer that they may all be one.
Our polity is congregational, with the local church as the basic unit and foundation of our life together. Local churches have the freedom to govern themselves and to establish their own organizational structures and theological positions, united by covenant to walk in the ways of the Lord.
